Emma Robinson
Engineering Apprentice
After obtaining ten GCSEs Emma was advised by her careers teacher to take up
a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering. She’s now completed three years and gained
her ONC and HNC in mechanical engineering. Emma is working for BNFL.
"For the first 18 months I was based at the company training centre, learning
engineering skills. After that I had a variety of jobs on site, most of which
were designed to help me achieve NVQ 3. Safety is a big issue here too, so we
all attend a number of courses that help us do our job safely and efficiently.
Engineers are always in demand across the world. So, thanks to my recognised Engineering
qualifications, I’ll be able to travel and work overseas."
